Who We Are
We’re horse people really. Horse people who know top quality equipment when we see it and are on a mission to bring the best gear to fellow horse people throughout Ireland and the UK.
Smart Equine is the official distributor for Rumann Hindernisbau in the UK and Ireland, a family run company that has been manufacturing the finest quality show jumps and equipment from their state-of-the-art factory in Delbrück-Boke, Germany for over 30 years.
We are also the Irish distributor for Spirafix Ground Anchors, premium dressage arenas from Heritage Products in Holland and also custom make cross country and derby fences of shapes and sizes according to a customer’s needs and requirements.
International Event Rider and part of the Team Ireland Eventing Squad training towards Tokyo 2020, Ciaran was a member of the Irish team at the 2019 European Three Day Eventing Championships.
But Ciaran doesn’t just ride horses rather well… he also holds a BSc in Sports Management, is an FEI Level 1 Coach and trains horses and riders at all levels from his base of Killossery Lodge Stud in North Dublin. And so you could say that Ciaran knows a thing or two about show jumps and cross country fences.
He’s also rather handy with a hammer and set of power tools.
When he’s not riding or coaching Ciaran spends a lot of time designing and building cross country and derby fences for Smart Equine customers around the country.
Jenny is competitive amateur rider with a bunch of home breds who’s competed to 4* level eventing (admittedly in a very distant past), 130cm show jumping (not so distant past) and is now having a go at some fairly fancy footwork between the dressage boards. She’s also dusted off the brave pants and gone back eventing in 2019, after a few year’s absence.
Having recognised quite early that her riding skills weren’t quite up to the level required to make a living riding horses, Jenny instead went down the academic route and received a business and economics degree from Trinity and a Masters degree in Strategic International Marketing from DCU.
Having worked for several of the industry’s leading brands, in 2004 Jenny decided to go it alone and founded Halcyon Days – a creative marketing agency providing out of house marketing solutions to equestrian and pet care companies.
